Monu Skincare: Eye Cooler

There are some mornings when I wake up and find that my eyes feel extra heavy and tired and just refuse to open fully. A splash of cold water sometimes helps, but it's not the most pleasant method of solving the issue!

I used to roll a little Garnier Caffeine eye roll-on which cooled and hydrated the area, but stopped using this (for no reason in particular). I have since been testing the Eye Cooling Gel from Monu Skincare and I am really enjoying using it!

This little pump action bottle is so handy and can be slipped into your handbag or makeup/toiletries bag with ease. You just pump out a little of the product on to your fingers (I always use my ring fingers - clean fingers of course!) and apply under the eyes using a soft patting motion.

I use this in the mornings after moisturising my face; I notice an instant cooling feeling after applying the gel and it really helps to hydrate the sensitive skin around the eye - a huge plus in the cold weather, when my skin is super dry. I feel a little more awake and my skin feels less irritated and sore - I also notice less puffiness around the area.

The only negative I have found with this product is that the pump allows just a little too much product to dispense each time I use it. I find I am wasting some of the product and less is definitely more when it comes to eye peoducts.

If I am honest, I don't find the Monu gel any better or worse than the Garnier roll-on and I wouldn't pick between the two. I enjoyed using both and will continue to use the gel. I'm not sure if I would repurchase the Monu gel, at £16.95 it is more on the expensive side while the Garnier roll-on is around the £10 mark and they both do the same job as far as I am concerned. A nice product, but not one of my favourites from Monu!

NOTD: Festive Pixi Sparkle

Although I don't celebrate Christmas, I thought I'd join the festive spirit by adding a little sparkle to my nails. Red is the perfect Christmas colour and although I tend to stay away from glitter polishes, I decided to bring a little 'bling' to my fingers with pretty polishes from Pixi's Holiday collection.

I used Ruby Glitz and Gold Glimmer from the Limited Edition trio pack, using Gold Glimmer as an accent colour to break up the red.

Ruby Glitz is a beautiful deep ruby red polish with bright red glitter particles while Gold Glimmer is a clear polish with lots and lots of large gold, silver and multicoloured glitters. The third polish in the trio is Diamond Glimmer, which is a sheer milky white base with white and silver glitter.

Two coats of Ruby Glitz gave gorgeous colour and sparkle to my nails. As Gold Glimmer has a clear base, it required several coats to give a solid glitter appearance on my nails. Of course, you can always use a coloured basecoat with such polishes, but I wanted to use the polish by itself to give the full effect of the glitter.

I have to admit, I love these colours and I can see myself using glitter polishes more in the future now! Removing glitter polishes is a chore and is the main reason I shy away from using them, but there is an easy way to remove them - look out for my post coming up which will show you how!

The pixi nail colour trio is available for £16 and is limited edition, so grab one quick!

Are You Naughty or Nice?

Personally, I am not the biggest fan of glitter nail polish - mostly because of the hassle involved with removing the polish from your nails! However, there is something about this time of year which always draws me to sparkle and polishes with glitter in them.

The Naughty or Nice mini polishes from Orly are perfect for the festive season and I would definitely wear all three colours.

Devil May Care is a red polish with red and gold glitter. It's the perfect Christmas colour!

Angel Eyes is a stunning blue with silver and blue glitter. It reminds me of tinsel and lights and all things festive.

Halo is my favourite of the three polishes. Its a gold polish with silver and gold glitter. This gorgeous polish is perfect for those who want a little sparkle without the colour being too 'in your face'.

These mini nail polishes are the perfect stocking fillers this Christmas and priced at just £5 each, they won't break the bank either!

They are available now in Boots stores and online - go get them girls!
