Superdrug Press Event

Hi ladies, sorry it's taken me so long to post this up, it is picture heavy so be warned! As you may be aware I attended a Superdrug press event last week at the Haymarket Hotel in London. The event was a chance to have a sneak peek at some exciting upcoming brand and product releases which will take place over the next few months.

I met up with Safiyah and we made our way to the hotel where we were greeted by friendly staff and a beautiful interior. The event took place in a room which is usually used for dining events and was lively and bustling with activity from the moment we walked in.

The beautiful display of an upcoming brand called Arora which will release in stores in April. This is "an indulgent bathing and body collection" which includes, body washes and luxurious body butters for a fraction of the price you might pay in other stores. Everything in the range is priced at £3.99 each which is amazing since a bottle of the shower wash is a mega 400ml! There are 6 varieties and my favourites were the Pink Grapefruit and Pomegranate Passion products.

The Love Hearts collection from MUA is already available in stores and I have been lusting after some of those nail polish shades for a while now. The pastel colours are perfect for Spring and MUA are a great, reliable brand. Underneath were some cosmetics from Accessorize (the jewellery/accessories store).

These are merged blushers from the brand Fashionista. They will be available in stores from May and are priced at £4 each. I swatched these whilst at the event and although the colours are pretty, the swatches did disappear from the back of my hand after an hour or so.

After browsing for a short time I noticed some girls giving manicures to attendees at the event. I looked at the polishes they were using and decided straight away I had to have my nails done!

This is the Andrea Fulerton nail polish in the shade "Kate" with an accent nail created using glitter puff dust which is genius! The colours in the range are beautiful and come in both pastel and darker shades.

After getting my nails done I spotted the gorgeous Kaushal from Beauty Fulfilled - a blog which I have been reading for such a long time! She gave me a lovely warm hug and was so friendly and full of smiles. Kaushal was at the event as a representative from Glam Republic for a very exciting product - applique eyeliners!

These are available in single or duo packs at a price of £4.99 or £9.99 respectively. They come in three varieties, matte, velvet or sparkle. Kaushal offered me a pair of velvet appliques, which I cannot wait to try out as I am useless when it comes to applying liquid liner!

There were many other exciting brands and products but I didn't get photographs of all the stands. One stand which is always very popular in Superdrug stores is Sleek. They also had a stand at the event and were showcasing their newest releases such as the Blush by 3 compacts and Face Form compacts.

Before leaving, I actually had my eyebrows threaded at the event by a lovely lady who works for the Ultimate brow and lash bar. She did an amazing job on my brows and really emphasised their natural shape and cleaned them up.

As I left the event, I was given a bag filled with goodies from some of the brands at the event. This was a generous and unexpected gift and I can't wait to try all of the products out and write up some exciting reviews for you! The event was well organised and there was something for everyone to enjoy there. The representatives were all friendly and helpful and the staff at the Haymarket Hotel were wonderful. A great success from Superdrug and the girls at ZPR!

I went for a lovely meal with Saman and Tanzina in Covent Garden at a restaurant called "Dishoom" (located next to Jamie Oliver's restaurant). The menu is a variety of Indian street foods and cuisine with a twist. I am not a huge fan of Indian food but I LOVED this place! If you ever get a chance or are around Covent Garden, do give this place a try, the atmosphere is quirky and cool and the food is delicious.

Love the "She" and "He" signs on the restroom doors!

Did you attend the Superdrug Press Event? What are your favourite brands at Superdrug?

Bloggers with Buyapowa

Hi loves hope you're well. I love a good bargain and I'm sure you do too. I especially love a bargain on products which I REALLY, REALLY want but just can't justify spending the money on. That's where Buyapowa provides the saving grace in my life.

If you aren't aware of what Buyapowa is, it's a website which operates on the basis of something called "Co-buying" to allow customers to purchase highly sought after products at discounted prices. What this means is, the more people who join the co-buy and purchase the products, the lower the price will drop. There are always a limited number of products available during each co-buy so it runs on a first come, first served basis. The co-buy runs for several hours normally and when the time is up, everyone who joined the co-buy pays the lowest price which was hit during the live co-buy (i.e. the lowest possible price for a pair of Shu Uemura lash curlers was £14 and everyone who joined the co-buy paid £14 because the maximum number of products available were sold!) You can find out more on the Buyapowa website.

So why am I talking about Buyapowa today? Well because this week is an exciting week on the site. The bloggers have taken over! This week the products which will be available on Buyapowa have been selected by Bloggers.

Here are the current Co-Buys (click the link to go straight to the page)

Source: Buyapowa

Upcoming co-buys include NARS Gina blush, NARS Laguna Bronzer, YSL Rouge Volupte, Benefit They're Real Mascara, Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette and many, many more! Don't miss out some great deals and bargains girls because this week, we hold the "Buyapowa" ;)

OOTD: Superdrug Press Event

Hey beauts how are you all? On Thursday I attended a press event hosted by Superdrug at the Haymarket Hotel in London. The event was a showcase of some upcoming brands and exciting products which will be available in Superdrug stores over the next few months. I will put up a detailed post very soon to give you a sneak peek into what went on that day but for now here is another OOTD to show you what I wore to the event.

Top - Zara
Treggings - H&M
Boots - New Look
Black long sleeved top (worn underneath the Jumper) - Miss Selfridge

I kept the accessories fairly basic for this outfit. I wore this bangle from Burberry and I wore the black cocktail ring from my previous OOTD which is from Primark.

A shot of me taken at the event by the lovely Saman :)

Keep an eye out for my detailed post covering the event!

Bourjois Boutique Bag

Hi dolls! As you may know if you read my last few recent posts, I went along to the Bourjois Boutique on Monday. I was given a little goody bag on arrival at the venue and I thought I'd share the contents of this plus my mini haul from that day.

This is what the bag looked like. Inside were a few bits and bobs, some of which I love and some that I think are not so great (but it's free and it's a gift so can't complain at all!)

Inside the bag was a foaming cleansing cream wash, a mirror compact which lights up, a mini 3D effect lipgloss, an eyeshadow in the shade 92 "Gris Pailettes" which is a dark grey shadow with glitter particles in it and a Gloss Bijou which looks like a disco ball and slides open to reveal a pretty coral coloured gloss! Not a bad bag at all, although the shadow disappointed me. When swatched, the glitter separates from the colour and it was not hugely pigmented. However, I still can't complain as I am not a huge wearer of eyeshadow as it is!

Next up, my purchases:

I chose a Delice de Poudre bronzing powder in the shade 51. This is something I've read about a lot on other blogs but never actually bought myself (for some reason). The colour is fairly light and it smells absolutely yummy - like chocolate and vanilla! I also picked up a blusher in the shade 74 "Rose Ambre". This is a matte blush in a gorgeous deep pink colour - a shade I've bought and worn before and have loved. The lipstick is a Sweet Kiss lipstick in the shade 06 "Rose Tendre", it's a lovely coral pink/red and as I have never tried lipsticks from Bourjois I thought I'd give it a go. Lastly, I selected the Volume Glamour Ultra Black mascara which claims to double eyelash volume.

Some swatches for you lovelies:

 L-R: Lipstick, Blusher and Bronzer

The photo on top shows swatches in daylight without flash while the picture below it is daylight but with a flash. The products are not actually swatched that heavily and are quite pigmented - something which always pleases me. The lipstick is a nice, creamy formula which doesn't dry out the lips, although I have yet to test it's staying power. I will try and review the mascara in a separate post hopefully.

I paid £14 for the four products using the deal that Bourjois offered to their visitors that day (2 for £9, 3 for £12 and 4 for £14!) That actually works out to be £3.50 per item which is an absolute BARGAIN! I was very happy with my purchases and with the whole day overall. The staff were friendly and so helpful and the day was great fun.

What did you buy from the Bourjois Boutique? Have you tried any of the products I purchased and what are your views on them?

Instagramming My Daily Life

Hey beauts, I wanted to confess a little something today - I think I have a serious Instagram addiction...

A little bit of my henna artwork on my sister's hand; my current hair colour; enjoying shisha in Birmingham; jewellery in forever 21 in the bullring, Birmingham

The London eye lit up at night; mint tea for those cold nights; yummy Pinkberry in Westfield, Stratford <3; leaf ring from forever 21

In Costa coffee with my sister; mushroom stonebaked pizza in Zizzi's; selfridges at the bullring; kop view of anfield stadium, Liverpool - with my hubby <3

Daily essentials; last book I read - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo; strawberry daiquiri mocktails with the girls; Nando's lunch

Found this whilst clearing out my bedroom (check the date!); shisha in East London; retail therapy - because it really does work; snow - something which always seems to fascinate everyone! Personally, I hate it!

My TOWIB name badge - it smudged a bit, unfortunately; bits and bobs in my makeup bag; a few purchases to help me organise myself with my blogging; TFL helping people get fit!

These are just a few snapshots from my daily life. I tend to instagram a lot when I'm out and about as I rarely carry a camera around with me and I love making pictures that little bit quirkier with the effects on the app.

Bourjois Pop-Up Boutique

Hi dolls! Today I ventured out in to the cold and headed on down to Shoreditch where the Bourjois Pop-Up Boutique has been opened in conjunction with London Fashion Week. Today was actually the last day as the boutique has been open for the past five days - sorry girls! This is a picture heavy post dolls!

I have to say, for makeup lovers, the room was heaven! As you walk in there are jars and shelves of gorgeous Bourjois products surrounding you and the room looked like a cosmetics candy shop. I went along with a few of my friends including Abeer of Blog-a-Beaute, Safiyah of Frooti Beauty, Asmaa of Chocoholic Hijabi, Saman of Wear Everyday and Aalia of Hijabi with Style and also met the lovely Sharmin of Pinksweetsz. Abeer, Saman and I actually ran quite late and as we walked in Abeer was given a goody bag (given to the first 50 people who visited the boutique) and Saman and I were told that was the last one! Fortunately for us, the lovely ladies from Bourjois checked to see if they had any left over in the back and they did!

(More on the contents of this and my small haul in another post)

The room was buzzing with activity and everywhere you looked there was something going on whether it was manicures, makeovers, body art or just major hauling from the girls! I wanted to have a look at all the displays and swatch a few products straight away and as I was reminiscing about my first ever blusher purchase (Bourjois Rose De Jaspe) one of the lovely staff asked me if I'd like to have my nails painted - to which I obviously said yes! The gorgeous Lizzie filed and painted my nails for me and I left the colour choice up to her.

The colour is a little washed out in the picture unforunately. It's a really pretty tea pink shade which I love.

After having my nails done I decided to look around and admire the displays to allow my nails to dry properly before getting in to hauling mode ;)

See what I mean about it looking like a sweet shop?!

After swatching a few products and getting distracted numerous times by all the things going on around me I finally decided on what I wanted. I listed them on my little card (which would be given to one of the Bourjois ladies later so that she could fill up a bag with my chosen goodies) and took a few snaps of the room.

Clockwise from top left: The crew from T4 preparing to film, body art using Bourjois makeup, a customer having her hair styled by one of the Bourjois team

In the meantime, Saman and Safiyah were also being treated by the Bourjois ladies!

Saman having her hair styled and Safiyah having some body art done

As we prepared to leave (after paying for our majorly discounted products) I was once again distracted by a beautiful woman sitting in the corner where the T4 crew were filming - it was Ms Jameela Jamil! I didn't want to disturb them filming so I took a few photos from the side and then caught her giving me a funny look. I realised I looked a bit like a stalker taking sly pictures so I went over to her to say hi (and to reassure her that I wasn't a crazy groupie/fan who was taking 300 pictures of her!!) She was so friendly and very sweet and made my day when she complimented my hair calling me "sexy" (ME?! REALLY???) Safiyah and I had a few pictures with her and then it was time to leave the Bourjois Boutique.

Frooti Beauty aka Safiyah, Jameela Jamil and me!

The lovely Jameela and I

We left the boutique and headed towards the one and only NANDO'S for some lunch and to have a nose at what each of us had purchased.

Beautiful ladies: Asmaa, Aalia, Safiyah and Saman <3

I had a fabulous day with amazing company as always <3 Don't forget to look out for my goody bag and haul post, coming soon!

Did any of you go to the Bourjois pop-up Boutique? What are your thoughts on it?

MAC Shop MAC Cook Spring 2012 Collection

Hey dolls, something for the MAC lovers today. Some of you may be aware that MAC has released the Spring 2012 Collection called "MAC Shop MAC Cook" and it is now available in Selfridges!

A quick rundown of the products available:

Eyeshadow Quads:
Call Me Bubbles; Colour Added and Shop and Drop

Although I'm not a big eyeshadow wearer I do like the shades from the "Call Me Bubbles" quad.

Innocence, Beware!; Naughty Saute; Watch Me Simmer; Quick Sizzle, Dish It Up, Runaway Red

My favourites from this bunch are "Innocence, Beware!"; "Naughty Saute" and "Runaway Red".

Kissable Lipcolour Lipglosses:
Enchantee; Woo Me; Scan-Delicious, So Vain, Flaunting It

I think I'd wear all of these glosses, with perhaps the exception of "Flaunting It" although I'd want to swatch it before deciding ;)

Cremeblend Blushers:
Florida; Optimistic Orange, Restores Dazzle!

I'd try "Restores Dazzle!" but not too sure of the other shades.

Fluidline Eyeliners:
Midnight Snack; Wholesome; Added Goodness

I love all three of these, but would I buy them? Not too sure about that..

Nail Lacquer:
Al Fredo; Kid Orange, Salad Dressed

I think "Salad Dressed" is probably the colour I'd be most likely to wear out of these three, although I have seen swatches on other blogs and they all look fabulous on!

Tendertone Lip Balms:
Hot'n'Saucy, Hush Hush, Tread Gently, Purring

All images from MAC

I prefer the two top shades out of the four but again, I don't think I'd personally go out and buy them.

And there you have it! The collection is priced from £9 upwards and is available at Selfridges now and online towards the end of February.

What are your favourite picks from the Spring Collection?

Cover Up Girls!

Hi dolls how are you all? Today I wanted to share one of my staple products in my make up routine. Before I tell you what it is let me tell you WHY it is so important to me. I am one of those people who starts getting dark circles under my eyes even with the slightest lack of sleep or water intake. Over time, I think I have become quite dependent on using concealer to cover up the dark shadows and I rarely leave my house without applying concealer under my eyes now. I have tried a huge range of concealers including high end and high street brands but I find myself always coming back to one product:

This is the Super Stay 24 hour Concealer from Maybelline. I have been using this on and off (whilst trying other brands) for about a year and a half. I love this concealer! It does everything a good concealer should do: it covers up dark shadows, it brightens the area around my eyes, it does not crease and it doesn't budge for HOURS! Granted, it won't stay perfect for 24 hours as the name suggests, but I would not expect it to anyway. Mine usually lasts for around 12-14 hours which I feel is more than adequate.

The tube contains a lipgloss style wand applicator which I prefer as it allows me to dab the product directly on to the skin under my eyes and then blend with my brush. The consistency is like that of a liquid foundation but less runny. It applies easily and smoothly on to the skin and blends really well, which is why I am a huge fan.

Above: Shade 3 Medium Beige is the colour I use

Right: Swatch of the concealer with a partially blended swatch on top

The Maybelline concealer is available to buy at Boots stores at £6.19 a tube. I have yet to find a concealer that matches up to this baby!

Have you tried concealers from Maybelline? Would you recommend any other concealers to me which don't crease and cover up dark circles?
